Building a Sustainable Southeast Asia through Nature-based Solutions

Why Now?

Southeast Asia is facing unprecedented demand for carbon credits and hence, there is an unparalleled opportunity to access and direct climate finance to NbS projects that deliver not only climate outcomes, but outcomes for biodiversity and people as well.

About the SCeNe Coalition

The Southeast Asia Climate and Nature-based Solutions (SCeNe) Coalition is a collaboration between leading non-governmental organizations with an established presence in Southeast Asia aimed at accelerating and increasing implementation of and investment in high-quality, high-integrity, triple-benefit Nature-based Solutions (NbS) across the region.

The Coalition is led by a group of conservation practitioners with decades of experience from independent, science-based organizations: Conservation International, The Nature Conservancy (TNC), the Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH), Birdlife International, Wildlife Conservation Society, Mandai Nature, World Resources Institute (WRI) Indonesia, and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Singapore.

The successful implementation of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) is crucial in addressing the climate crisis we urgently face today.

Helping Nature to Do Its Job

The SCeNe Coalition is focused on three main workstreams:

  1. NbS Tool

    Support First Mile Organziations (FMOs) through developing high-quality triple-benefit NbS projects and project documentation, including analyzing and providing data and information, and showcasing these projects to investors.

  2. Shared NbS Portfolio

    Showcase high-integrity triple benefit NbS projects (including project delivery and funding) and direct market demand and climate finance to additional triple benefit NbS in Southeast Asia.

  3. NbS Incubator

    Deliver scientific, regulatory, technical (including safeguards), technological, financial/market and business development support to FMOs at various stages of NbS project development, from pre-feasibility through to carbon sales.
