“Tech for Nature” friend-raiser a success
Our latest updates from across the Caribbean.
More than two dozen special guests gathered in Coral Gables, Florida, in September for the TNC Caribbean Board’s first “friend-raising” reception.
The event, themed “Tech for Nature,” took place as part of the final in-person board meeting for 2024. Board members invited people from their professional networks, including entrepreneurs, investors, government officials and media influencers. Some were long-time supporters, and for others the event was their first introduction to TNC.
Dr. Steve Schill, lead scientist for TNC in the Caribbean, provided guests with insight into how TNC applies the latest cutting-edge technologies, such as drones and artificial intelligence, to support conservation action for people and nature across the Caribbean. Steve’s presentation stimulated excellent conversation and questions from guests. The event generated new connections and relationships that are already helping to advance the work of our Caribbean policy, communications, and development teams.
Given the success of this event and the encouraging feedback from guests and board members alike, we will include a friend-raiser event as a standing feature of our in-person board gatherings.
