Biography
Austin Rempel is the Riparian Restoration Program Manager for the Sagebrush Sea Program and the Colorado River Program. Austin oversees a regional strategy focused on increasing the pace and scale of low-tech, process-based restoration in the intermountain West. In this role he supports TNC practitioners leading restoration projects and works with multi-state teams who are building the restoration workforce, streamlining state and federal permitting, and raising sustainable, long-term project financing.
Before this role, Austin worked at American Forests, where he contributed to seed and seedling supply chain studies and oversaw large-scale reforestation projects aimed at improving forest health and climate resilience. He also worked as a senior research analyst with ECONorthwest from 2013–2016. He holds a Master of Environmental Management from the Yale School of the Environment and a B.A. in economics and ecology/evolutionary biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
