This Kentucky nature preserve protects important grasslands and forestland and provides foraging habitat for endangered bats.

Prescribed fire is a restorative management strategy for many landscapes, including Dupree Nature Preserve. During fire season, generally February-April and October-November, sections of preserves including trails may be temporarily closed for fire.
